Virtual resource functional levels table
Abiquo virtual infrastructure is organized into three functional levels: virtual datacenters, virtual appliances and VMs.
Virtual datacenter level
At this level administrators can manage virtual datacenters that are logical groups of compute, network and storage resources, for example:
- Restrict users to selected VDCs
- Limit resources for a VDC
- Assign a default network
- Create private networks
- Purchase public IPs
- Manage firewalls (classic firewalls are at regional level)
- Manage load balancers
- Manage volumes and persistent VMs
- Manage hard drives (API)
- Manage VPNs
- Restrict user roles in selected VDCs and define exceptions
- Create alarms for built-in VM metrics and custom metrics
Virtual appliance level
At this level users can manage virtual appliances that are folders (logical groups) of VMs or containers, for example:
- Deploy virtual appliances
- Manage VM anti-affinity layers
- View monitoring for VMs
- Restrict virtual appliances
VM level
At this level users can manage VMs, for example:
- Create and deploy VMs
- Obtain VDC resources on a self-service basis and configure compute, network, and storage for their VMs
- Restrict VMs by moving them to restricted VApps
