Create NAT gateways in AWS and OCI
Abiquo 6.2.0 gives you full control over network gateway options in AWS and OCI.
When you create a network, you can select the checkbox to create an Internet gateway or a NAT gateway.
Then the chosen network type will allow the user to access the VDC or the internet as described in the network VM access table below.
Network | VM access |
---|---|
Private network | Connection to VMs in the same VDC |
Private network + Internet gateway option + public IP | Connection to the internet |
Private network + NAT gateway option | Outgoing traffic to the internet |
Creating networks with gateways
If you create a network with the internet gateway option, Abiquo will use an existing internet gateway or create a new one, and if necessary update or create the route table for all destinations.
If you create a network with the NAT gateway option, Abiquo will use an existing public NAT gateway, or create a new one. To create a NAT gateway, you must already have a public subnet, which is a network with an internet gateway. Abiquo will also create or update a route table, to create a route to the public NAT gateway for all destinations.
If you do not select either of the gateway options, Abiquo will create a network with the routes from the main route table.
Deleting networks with gateways
In Abiquo, when you delete a network from AWS, if there are no other subnets routing to the NAT gateway and routing table, then Abiquo will delete them.
In Abiquo, when you delete a VDC from OCI, Abiquo will delete the NAT gateways and routing tables of the networks.
Updating gateways
When you edit a network you can change the internet gateway and NAT gateway checkboxes.
