UEFI boot
Abiquo 5.3 now enables you to deploy VMs with UEFI boot on VMware hypervisors, as well as the previous default of BIOS boot. It is easy to enable this feature for any compatible template in the Abiquo service catalog.
To use this feature, open the Apps library and edit a VM template that supports UEFI boot and go to the Advanced tab, then select the Enable UEFI boot checkbox.
This feature requires UEFI firmware, an an operating system that supports UEFI, and a virtual hardware version 13 or later. When using UEFI, keep the disk controllers as originally specified for the template, check that you have assigned enough CPU and RAM to the VM, and correctly indicate the 32 or 64 bit architecture. Abiquo 5.3 does not support the UEFI secure boot option.
If the user does not correctly configure the boot option of BIOS or UEFI and the power on fails, the platform does not log the errors.
In this initial version, when you create a new template or save a VM as an instance template, the option to Enable UEFI boot
is always set to false
