Add an additional datacenter to your cloud platform

This page describes how to add an additional datacenter with remote services to your existing cloud platform. Note: these steps are for a distributed or HA cluster installation, not a monolithic installation.

Always use a fresh install of Remote Services. Do not clone an existing remote services VM.

  1. We recommend that you use a separate VM with a full set of remote services that is on-premise at your new datacenter

  2. If you share remote services, for a new datacenter location, you will always need (at least) a separate server with the Appliance manager and Business process manager (V2V) remote services, and they will also need their own NFS shared folder.

  3. We also recommend that you use the separate server for the Virtualization manager (virtual factory) and Monitor manager (VSM), OR you must use a shared Redis instance for them.
You could use a shared Redis instance when you have a datanode configuration.
    See Datanode services cluster

Before you begin:

  1. Install the Remote Services for your new datacenter on a VM with its own FQDN or IP address.
See Distributed environment | Remote Services and Distributed environment | V2V.

  2. Remember to perform other configuration as required, for example:

    1. Enable TLS for communications to and from the RS server (see Configure Abiquo Tomcat with HTTPS for Remote RS)

    2. Enable TLS for RabbitMQ RabbitMQ TLS guide

    3. Allow connections through your firewall to the remote services ports.

  3. To add the datacenter to your cloud platform, for each remote service, you will need to enter the IP address or FQDN of its Remote Services server and the port it is listening on.

Privileges: Access infrastructure view and Private DCs, Manage datacenter

To add an additional datacenter do these steps:

  1. Go to Infrastructure → Private

  2. At the bottom of the Datacenters list, click the + add button

  3. On the Create datacenter dialog, enter the Name of the datacenter and its Location to plot the datacenter on the Infrastructure view map. Then click Next

    Create datacenter
    Create a datacenter
  4. To create the remote services for the new datacenter, enter the correct protocol, IP address and Port of each of the remote services server/s.

    Create datacenter (part 2)
Enter the remote services for the datacenter

  5. Click Check all to check that Abiquo can reach the remote services at their IP addresses and ports

  6. When all Remote Services are correctly added, click Save

After the platform creates the datacenter, do these steps:

  • To allow users to deploy in the datacenter, edit your enterprises to add the new datacenter to the Allowed datacenters list

  • To allow administrators to manage the datacenter, edit your administration scopes and add the new datacenter
