Manage resource groups
Introduction to resource groups
Resource groups let users manage sets of resources in multiple public cloud regions. Abiquo can onboard and manage Azure resource groups and OCI compartments, and their resources. All virtual resources in Azure and OCI will belong to a resource group, so you will need to select a resource group, and also an availability set, when you create resources.
Privileges: Manage resource groups, Delete resource groups
Resource groups are global entities and cloud providers do not contain Abiquo's business rules, such as user roles or scopes. So Abiquo has an additional privilege and recommendation for users managing resource groups.
Users who will manage resource groups will need to be able to display all of the tenant's Abiquo virtual datacenters and the resources within them. This is to ensure that the resources the user can manage in Abiquo and the cloud provider are the same. Otherwise, there may be "hidden" resources that a user cannot access through Abiquo.
Users can now access and work with resources in their resource groups, as well as in their virtual datacenters.
When users onboard or synchronize virtual datacenters, the platform will onboard or update the resource groups used in the platform, and it will delete any resource groups that do not exist.

Delete a resource group
You can delete resource groups in Abiquo and the cloud provider, or in Abiquo only.
When you delete a resource group in Azure, you will delete ALL its resources in Azure, and Azure will not consider business rules. For example, it will not check if the user only has limited access to VDCs in the platform. So to delete a resource group, you must have the Delete resource groups privilege and access to all of the resources.
To delete a resource group in Abiquo only in Azure, the resource group must be empty in Abiquo, which means that you must have access to the resources to remove them from Abiquo or to delete them.
To delete a resource group in OCI, it must be empty.
