Default firewalls in GCP
Administrators can now set default firewalls for virtual datacenters in GCP. This convenient feature will improve the security of user networks. To assign a default firewall, edit a virtual datacenter and go to Defaults. Because firewalls are at the global level in GCP, you cannot assign the default firewall when you edit the firewall.
When users create a global network in GCP, Abiquo creates a firewall to allow VM access. But the user must select a firewall to enable remote access because platform does not automatically apply the firewall to the VM.
When there is a default firewall, if the user does not select a firewall for their VM, then the platform will automatically apply the default firewall. If the user is not allowed to modify VM firewall configurations, then the platform will set the default firewall by default.
In Virtual datacenters view, Abiquo marks the default firewall with a star on the Firewalls page.
