Add a public cloud reseller to private cloud

This guide describes how to add a public cloud reseller to your private cloud platform.
We assume that you are familiar with the platform and have private cloud customers.

The following diagram summarizes the process of adding a public cloud reseller

To add public cloud, the first step is to check the public cloud features and the details of the public cloud integration.

Public cloud features tables:

Public cloud integrations:

The next step is to obtain API credentials for the public cloud providers that you would like to use in the platform.

The type of credentials to use will depend on the account type (reseller/partner or standard).

If you are are a reseller, then you should add credentials with access to pricing and billing, in order to obtain the billing dashboard data for your customers.

  • To use Azure CSP credentials, contact customer service to arrange consent.

Obtain public cloud credentials:

Then create your public cloud regions. See Create a public cloud region.

And configure the platform to display cloud provider billing data on dashboards.

For customers of your resellers/partner accounts, you can add credentials for compute or billing only, which will identify the customer and enable the display of their billing data.

See Hybrid for details of the default public cloud billing dashboards.

If you are using reseller accounts, then you should use a reseller hierarchy.

A reseller hierarchy can be basic, with just the customer level, or more complex with multiple tenants per customer.

Remember that each enterprise must have its own set of public cloud credentials.

For a basic reseller hierarchy, see Create a base reseller hierarchy

If a customer has more than one cloud account, then each account will require a separate enterprise in the platform.

The customer can be a key node enterprise and their cloud accounts can be added to tenants below the customer enterprise in the tenant hierarchy.

Public cloud features have their own separate privileges, so you should adapt your user roles for public cloud.

Example privilege changes for adding public cloud

Please note that each feature has its own privileges, so check new feature guides and Changes to privileges for more details.

Also add public cloud regions to administrator and user scopes.

And check that your tenant enterprises have the public cloud regions in their Allowed locations list.

You can add compute or billing only credentials to the customers of your reseller/partner account.

Or your users can work with their own public cloud accounts that they obtain directly from the provider.

To allow your users to add their own credentials, assign the Manage public credentials privilege to their user roles.
Your users can then add credentials from the user icon menu.

See Manage enterprise credentials and properties.

And Enterprise properties for customers of resellers and Enterprise properties for resellers
