VM limits

Administrators can now limit the number of VMs that a user can create at the tenant, tenant location, and virtual datacenter levels.

Tenant VM limits

To restrict the number of VMs that an enterprise can create:

  1. Go to Users → Enterprises → Edit enterprise → Allocation limits.
  2. Enter the hard limit that the tenant cannot exceed and the soft limit that can provide a warning to administrators and users. 
    The platform will display the tenant's limit and current usage on the administrator's main dashboard (under Home → Metrics).

Tenant VM limits in a location

To restrict the number of VMs that a user can create in a location:

  1. Go to Users → Enterprises → Edit enterprise → Allowed datacenters
  2. Edit an allowed location that is a public cloud region or datacenter  
  3. Go to Allocation limits

    This platform does not display this limit on the dashboard

Tenant VM limits in a provider

If your platform is configured to display allowed locations by provider, to set default provider limits, edit the provider.

Limit VMs in a virtual datacenter

To limit the number of VMs in a virtual datacenter, go to Cloud virtual datacenters → Virtual datacenters → Edit virtual datacenter

The platform will display the limit and the usage on the main dashboard (under Home → Metrics), in accordance with user privileges.
