This guide describes how to use ISO disks on VMware hypervisors on the platform.

  • VMware mounts ISO disks as IDE drives and you cannot change them through the platform

When you create a template with a ISO, specify an extra disk as part of the template.

  • The platform will create a bootable disk, so the user can later remove the ISO
  • The user can change the size of the disk before they deploy a VM.

To work with an ISO disk:

  1. Create a VM from a template with an ISO disk
  2. Adjust the size of extra disk as required
  3. Deploy the VM
  4. Install software from the ISO as required

To remove an ISO disk from the VM

  1. Power off the VM
  2. Edit the VM storage and in the boot order and change the ISO disk from sequence number 0 to another value, e.g. 1
  3. Remove the ISO disk
  4. Save the changes
  5. Power on the VM
