This guide describes how to use ISO disks on VMware hypervisors on the platform.
- VMware mounts ISO disks as IDE drives and you cannot change them through the platform
When you create a template with a ISO, specify an extra disk as part of the template.
- The platform will create a bootable disk, so the user can later remove the ISO
- The user can change the size of the disk before they deploy a VM.
To work with an ISO disk:
- Create a VM from a template with an ISO disk
- Adjust the size of extra disk as required
- Deploy the VM
- Install software from the ISO as required
To remove an ISO disk from the VM
- Power off the VM
- Edit the VM storage and in the boot order and change the ISO disk from sequence number 0 to another value, e.g. 1
- Remove the ISO disk
- Save the changes
- Power on the VM
