Troubleshoot when you create a datacenter

This page describes issues that may occur with remote services when you create a datacenter in Abiquo

Connectivity

The following connectivity issues may occur when you are creating a datacenter

  • Check which port the remote services are listening on and the firewall connection to the port.

  • Check that remote services can connect correctly to the Abiquo API, with a correct abiquo.server.api.location in the abiquo.properties file.

For more details see:

NFS repository

In each datacenter, the Appliance Manager requires a separate NFS repository (NFS share) to hold the template catalogue. If you receive a repository error, for example, that the .abiquo_repository file cannot be found, check that the NFS repository is properly mounted and accessible.

For more details see:

Sharing remote services

It is possible to share some of the remote services between well-connected datacenters (considering performance) and it is certainly possible to share them with public cloud regions.

The sharing rules are:

  • You cannot share the Appliance manager or Business process manager remote services. This means that you need a separate instance of these remote services for each datacenter. These remote services are assigned to the NFS share for the datacenter.

  • To share a Virtualization manager (virtual factory) or Monitor manager (VSM), you must use a shared Redis instance. This may be easier to manage when you use a separate Datanode server.
