Create a volume

Abiquo supports public cloud storage volumes in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and OCI.

Volumes of external storage can be persistent and independent of VMs. Volumes are:

  • EBS disks in AWS

  • Managed Disks in Azure

  • Zonal persistent disks in Google Cloud Platform

  • Block volumes in OCI

To create a new storage volume:

  1. Go to myCloud and select a virtual datacenter or location

  2. Go to Storage

  3. Click the + add button and complete the form.

  4. For the Total size, the minimum size is as follows:

    • AWS: 1 GB

    • Azure: 1 GB

    • GCP: 10 GB

    • OCI: 50 GB

  5. For the Tier, select the service level of the volume.

  6. In AWS and GCP, select the Availability zone where the platform will create the volume. This must be the same Availability zone as the VM network

  7. In OCI, the Controller type can be: PARAVIRTUALIZED, or SCSI. Volumes may onboard as IDE but the platform will later update them.

  8. In public cloud, the platform does not apply the Controller

  9. In AWS and OCI, to use encryption on the disk, select Encrypted
