Changes to external IP management in Abiquo 6.0.x
This page describes the changes to external IP management in Abiquo 6.0.x
In Abiquo 6.0.1+, you must create external IPs in the infrastructure. When you edit a VM, you cannot assign an automatically generated external IP
In Abiquo 6.0.6+, you can assign an automatically selected external IP
Â
Create external IPs
As Abiquo will not automatically generate IPs in an IPv4 external network, to create external IPs, do these steps.
Go to your external network at: Infrastructure → Private
Select your datacenter
Go to Network → External
Click + add to create a pool of IPs. Enter the number of IPs and the first address to use.
By default, the IPs that you create will be available for all users in the tenant. We recommend that you got to Available IPs and make administration IPs unavailable, such as the gateway IP
Use external IPs in your VMs
The IPs you created in the external network will be available to users.
To display the IPs, go to myCloud view
Select a virtual datacenter
Go to Network → External
Select a network
Â
Edit your VM and drag one of the external IPs into the VM. If you do not set the default gateway, Abiquo will set it automatically.
In Abiquo 6.0.6, you can also drag the Auto-selected IP label into the VM.
Â
Set an external network as the default
For your enterprise, to set a external network as the default network for the datacenter, do these steps.
Go to Users → edit the enterprise
Go to Datacenters
Select and edit the datacenter
Go to Default network and select the external network
Abiquo will set this as the default network for all new virtual datacenters.
For existing virtual datacenters, you will need to edit the external network and set it as the default.
See Manage virtual datacenters | Set a default network for a virtual datacenterNow when you deploy a VM with no network configuration, then Abiquo will automatically add the first available IP address in the default external network.
It will also set the default gateway.
