Storage Pool Allocation

When you create a volume of managed storage, the platform will automatically add it to a pool in the selected tier or default tier. When you create a hard disk, which can be a system disk or extra hard disk, the platform will automatically add it to a datastore in the selected tier or default tier.

Abiquo chooses the pool or datastore tier using the storage allocation method set for the tier in the datacenter.

1. Performance - the pool or datastore tier with the most available space
2. Progressive - the pool or datastore tier with the least available space

The default method is progressive.

To configure a storage allocation policy:

1. Go to Infrastructure → Private → select a datacenter
2. Go to  Storage → Tiers OR Storage → Datastore tiers
3. Select a tier and click the pencil edit button

4. Select the Storage allocation method. 
5. Click Save
