These pages describe the functions and features of the Abiquo Platform Networks and Abiquo Cloud Tenant Networks.
Abiquo Platform Networks: Networks in which the Abiquo solution and components run. These networks are used for different functions including; administration of the platform, improving performance and segregating network traffic and functions.Abiquo Cloud Tenant Networks: The self-service virtual networks that admins and users can use and configure to deliver IP addresses to the virtual machines deployed by Abiquo. In private cloud datacenters, these networks run in the 'service network' that runs on the Abiquo Platform Networks. In standard networking, Abiquo uses VLANs and DHCP services to provide self-service virtual networking to virtual machines. Abiquo also supports software defined networking with integrations with SDN systems such as OpenStack Neutron and VMware NSX. Abiquo also supports networking in public cloud regions, creating networks and floating public IP addresses.
For each datacenter, the Network Administrator should design the configuration (e.g. VLAN tags, switches) that will be required and configure the cloud platform switches to support the VLANs that make up the service network.
