Abiquo 5.1 introduces the following new features:
Address ranges for VDCs in public cloud
Abiquo 5.1 introduces more control over address ranges in public cloud. In previous versions, the platform automatically created and named virtual datacenter network elements. Now, when users create a VDC, they can specify the address range for the VDC to use as part of a custom private network configuration. The platform will then use this address space to define the virtual datacenter network and create the private networks as subnets in this address space.
Capture VMs with duplicate names in different datacenters
Abiquo 5.1.2 enables the administrator to capture a VM in private cloud when another VM with the same name already exists in a different datacenter. This is a foundation for the new Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) feature that Abiquo will introduce in coming versions, as well as the identification of all resources by the Provider ID.
Create and deploy a VM from anywhere
To enable users to deploy a VM even more quickly and easily, Abiquo 5.1 introduces this new feature to create and deploy a VM from anywhere. You can start with the orange +VM button on any screen or from a template in the Apps library.
Deploy a VM from anywhere
Fee per VM
Abiquo 5.1 introduces the a new pricing element, the fee per VM. Now when administrators create a pricing model, in the resource prices, administrators can set a price per VM. This is a flat fee per VM per hour that the platform will add to other VM price elements, such as price per CPU and price per GB of RAM.
Filter virtual datacenters by provider
Abiquo 5.1 introduces a new filter by providers to make it easier to find your virtual datacenters. You can choose to display virtual datacenters in Private cloud hypervisors and/or individual public cloud providers.
Hardware profile families and types
To enable users to more easily select the appropriate hardware profile, Abiquo 5.1 introduces hardware profile families and types. When the user selects a VM template to create a VM, they can filter the hardware profiles by family and type. The platform provides a helpful description of the family and the type. The user can choose to display only hardware profiles of the current generation.
After you upgrade Abiquo, select an account and synchronize hardware profiles for each public cloud region and datacenter to update their families and types. The hardware profile types are locked and synchronized from public cloud regions with hardware profiles, such as AWS and Azure. In datacenters and in vCloud regions, where hardware profiles are optional, the administrator can fully manage hardware profile families and types.
Limit bandwidth of Public IPs with QoS
Abiquo 5.1 enables the user to set a bandwidth limit in a virtual datacenter for each Public IP using Quality of Service (QoS traffic shaping) parameters. This feature applies to public IPs in infrastructure and managed by NSX in vCenter and vCenter clusters. It requires a new privilege to Manage bandwidth limit for public IPs.
During an upgrade or when you create a virtual datacenter, the public IP bandwidth limit is disabled. To use QoS, edit the limit to set a value. The platform will apply the value when you deploy or reconfigure a VM to use a public IP.
Locations section in virtual datacenters
Abiquo 5.1 introduces a new Locations section in the Cloud view. The Locations section displays virtual resources at a regional or datacenter level. In Abiquo 5.1, to display the virtual resources in a location organized by tabs, go to the Locations section and click on the Locations button and select a location from the list.
Support for SATA disks
Abiquo 5.1.1 introduces support for SATA (AHCI) controllers. For ESXi hosts, vCenter hosts, and vCenter clusters, you can now use SATA ISOs and SATA hard disks. This feature enables you to hot reconfigure CD devices and hard disks. This feature also introduces some additional functionality in the user interface.
Support for VMware vSphere 7
Abiquo 5.1.2 introduces support for VMware vSphere 7 for vCenter hosts, vCenter clusters, and ESXi hosts. In vSphere 7, support for VNC is deprecated, so you should activate WebMKS. To migrate from VNC to WebMKS, see Enable WebMKS for vCenter. To start using WebMKS for a new installation, see Configure WebMKS for vCenter. Abiquo 5.1.2 also adds support for the new guest OS types for templates in vSphere 7
Veeam 10 backup integration
Abiquo 5.1.1 introduces support for Veeam 10 using the Veeam REST API version 1.5. This plugin also supports Veeam 11, but you should update the API version configuration. This version of the plugin requires a separate license
VMware snapshot for on-demand backup with Veeam
The VMware snapshot plugins for backup as a service were deprecated with the relesase of the VM snapshot feature in Abiquo 6.0.0
