This page describes how to create a user for tenant administrators and cloud administrators
Before you begin:
Optionally, create a role and a scope for the user. See Manage Roles and Manage scopes
To create a user:
Go to Users view
The platform will create the user in the current or selected enterprise. Optionally, select another enterprise.
Select Users
Click the + add button and complete the dialog
Enter General information:
For the Name, enter the user's first name and family name
Select the Role to define the user’s privileges on the platform
Select the Scope to define the user’s access to enterprises, datacenters, and public cloud regions
For the Username, enter the name the user will log in with, which cannot be changed
For the Password, your administrator can set the requirements at Configuration → Security
The E-mail is required. The platform uses the email for messages, such as password reset. The platform will display a Gravatar icon the user has one for this address
For the Phone number, enter your number if you wish to receive SMS messages
For the Locale, select the user’s country and language
To restrict a user to a set of datacenters (if the user is not an administrator with the
No VDC restriction
privilege), select the datacenters that the user can access.Enter the Advanced details
The platform will add the Public key to your VMs to use with your private key for SSH access
For Allowed CIDRs, you may enter network addresses from where the user can log in
Click Save
The platform will create the user. To later move the user to another enterprise, drag the username to the new Enterprise name in the Enterprises list.
