Force ESXi hardware version

  1. When you configure a VM, Abiquo gets the default hardware version that is configured in: hostSystem, Cluster, Datacenter, or there is no default. 

  2. If there is no default, in Abiquo, vCenter deploys with the highest hardware version

  3. Abiquo lets you force a hardware version downgrade when you have mixed versions of hypervisors using the property abiquo.esxi.forcehardwareversion = vmx-<version>

    1. For example, abiquo.esxi.forcehardwareversion = vmx-18

    2. Abiquo checks that the host version of ESXi supports the downgrade

    3. Abiquo does not allow you to force ESXi to use the latest version

  5. Abiquo maintains this feature in line with its releases. When Abiquo adds support for a new version of ESXi, we will also add the hardware downgrade support for the previous version.

  6. If you wish to add a new version of ESXi to your environment before Abiquo supports it and the corresponding downgrade to Abiquo's currently supported latest version, use the VMware procedure to restrict deployment to a specific version.
