To create public cloud regions and also to give tenants access to the regions, you will require vCloud Director credentials.

You should be able to obtain these from your cloud provider or system administrator.

Credentials format

The username of the Provider administrator will usually be in the format: administrator@vsphere.local administrator@SYSTEM.
If you do not specify an organization, then the default is Provider administrator credentials.

The username of the Organization administrator will usually be in the format:  user@organizationName

The platform can work with a Provider vDC or an Organization vDC as a public cloud region.

• If you use

  an Organization vDC

  organization administrator credentials, then the entire public cloud region will belong to a single tenant and represent a single Organization vDC.

• If you use administrator credentials, then the public cloud region will represent a Provider vDC,

  then for each tenant, you can add one Organization VDC per public cloud region

  and it can be used by multiple tenants, with their own organization credentials to access their Organization vDCs.

When you create the public cloud region in the platform, enter the appropriate credentials.

Use vCloud Director public cloud regions

To use a public cloud region in vCloud, you must add Organization credentials for the tenant.

You should also add Provider credentials to link the Organization vDC to the public cloud region when it is a Provider vDC.

Image RemovedWhen working with the public cloud region as a provider vDC, you should also enter the administrator credentials in order to tag the org vDC for the provider vDC that it belongs to.

This is because the Organization vDC credentials do not have access to the Provider vDC details. 

If the same organization has more than a single org vDC in the same provider vDC, then the system administrator should use the vcd-system-region tool in order to tag a single vDC for use in the platform.
