Info

This page describes issues that may occur when you add VMware servers in Abiquo

Servers or clusters

  • In a test environment, if you experience errors with VMware, please check you did not add the same VMware servers in more than one mode (for example, do not add a vCenter server and then add a vCenter cluster with the same server in a vCenter cluster).

Datastores

  • The platform expects to be able to identify each datastore with a UUID so it tries to create a UUID folder.

  • If the platform cannot write to a datastore, then it will trigger an error. This error may also appear for each periodic infrastructure check, creating multiple log entries.

  • Check that each datastore has a unique UUID and there are no duplicate UUIDs.

  • It is not possible to use a tier containing local datastores of different hosts.

  • When you reconfigure a VM, the error (Invalid configuration for device '0'.[InvalidDeviceSpec]) means that the platform is trying to create a disk or use an ISO on a local datastore that is not available to the host with the VM.

  • If the Abiquo UI shows different datastore used space than vCenter, check your datastores in case there are any duplicate UUIDs.

Datastore errors

  • From Abiquo 6.2, errors in refreshDatastore will appear in the nars.log only

  • When a datastore is removed or disabled, Abiquo will generate an API log entry

Storage outage

  • After a storage outage, this error appears every time the administrator tries to enable a datastore

DATASTORE-10: The datastore cannot be enabled because it no longer exists on the target machine. Check that your datastores and hosts are all accessible
