This section describes how to create an extra charge, which is a cost code that you can use for FinOps. You can use extra charges to sell managed services, licenses, installations and so on. You can set prices for extra charges and apply them to hardware profiles, VM templates, VMs, and enterprises (cloud tenants).

To create an extra charge with a cost code:

  1. Enter a Name and Description that will identify the extra charge with a cost code for other administrators and users.

  2. The Type is the entity where you will use the cost code for an extra charge, such as Template, Hardware profile, Virtual machine, or All. The platform does not support the Custom servicetype is not supported yet

  3. The Unit specifies how to calculate the cost using the extra charge with a cost code:

    1. Usage period is for usage x time

    2. Usage CPUs is for usage x number of CPUs

    3. Usage user licenses is for usage x number of users that you enter in the VM

    4. Subscription is only for Custom service types and it is not supported yet

    1. One-timeis to apply an instant charge for a product or service to a VM or an enterprise. Note that you can apply this extra charge more than once to the same entity

    2. Max vCPU is to apply when exists a minimum charge that depend on a minimum vCPU. User is going to pay at least for a minimum vCPU in the vm and if the real vCPU on workload has more vCPU is going to pay the calculated price vCPU x price

  1. The icon is a new field that allows to visualize the extra charge that it’s going to be used

You can also assign the extra charges to compatible entities, which may include:

  • VM templates

  • Hardware profiles

  • VMs

  • Enterprise products
